Contemporary Kitchen Decoration Ideas

These kitchen decoration were designed by Australian kitchen designer . The kitchen was situated in the main living area on the second floor. This was a large open plan area that housed the kitchen, dining and lounge with large sliding doors leading onto a decked area which captured the astounding views. As this was their only entertaining area the kitchen not only had to be functional but also become art work within its own right as the rest of this area was to be simply dressed.

From Designer :

When I consulted with the clients they expressed particular interest in the look of light timber cabinetry, as they had already chosen dark timber floors they felt a lighter colour would complement. Other than this specification I was given creative license. The only challenge I faced was with my desire to place the gas hob and sink in the island to enable the clients to feel part of the room when entertaining and also take in their views. This meant I had to duct the range hood between the second and third floor, to overcame the problem of the amount and distance of ducting required, I placed a second motor half way along the span which ensured optimal power. To cover the power pack motor in the range hood, I designed a pure white coloured glass surround, with LED lighting inside to add another dimension.

I also used the same coloured glass for the splash back and overhead doors to give the sense of continuity from the range hood to the back of the kitchen. The back wall featured high cabinets with push catch doors in a light veneer that was gloss lacquered. I designed the island to feature polished stainless top, which was carried through to the back wall bench top. At the end of the island I placed an oak timber slab over and under the stainless steel, which gave the effect the stainless cut right thought the timber. Which provided the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning. LED lighting was used extensively around the front of the island and back wall to create the perfect ambience. The end result was a modern contemporary kitchen which is not only stunning during the day, but breathtaking in the evening.
